What it’s like to volunteer at an Active Fusion holiday camp.

What we can offer you:

Work in schools with one of our coaches on work placement. Watch how they engage with children of different ages, backgrounds and capabilities and the various activities they teach to get children active.

Volunteer at our sports holiday camps. We run sports holiday camps during each school holiday to help children stay active when they’re not taking part in Physical Education lessons.

Volunteer at sports competitions. Assist our School Games organiser is the running of sporting competitions for primary school children across Doncaster and South Yorkshire.

School Placements

Ideal for Young People 16+. No minimum or maximum amount of hours. What you’ll gain:

The opportunity to work within Primary or Secondary setting

The opportunity to have one-to-one support with AF coach

The chance to support an apprentice and learn about their role/opportunity this can give them

The opportunity to plan, run and organise Intra-level competition & small group sessions

Development Placements

3 months plus placement. Ideal for university student placements. Submit an application.

What you’ll gain:

The opportunity for you to bring your own project ideas to life

Working on a long-term project from start to finish

The opportunity to plan, deliver and evaluate a project

The chance to gain support from experienced staff members, insight to the running of a sports charity and experience in partnership working.

Media Placements

Ideal for university or college students work placements. Some experience of media studies or social media training desirable. Submit an application.

What you’ll gain:

The chance to run media projects and create online content

One-to-one support from Active Fusion’s Marketing Officer

Office-based and field-based experience

The opportunity to work across media platforms and support the promotion of multiple projects

Events and Community

Placements

Suitable for volunteers, school leaver placements and university placements no minimum hours required. Submit an application.

What you’ll gain:

Experience working on local events and county-wide events

Working on School Games, Active Fusion events and Holiday camps

The opportunity to work with children from disadvantaged areas

These opportunities are a chance for you to improve your confidence and interaction with children from different backgrounds and will give you an insight into what it’s like to work with schools, teachers and parents.

Volunteering will provide you with impressive hands-on experience which you can use if you decide to pursue a career in sports coaching in the future. Many of our volunteers have gone on to find employment in the coaching industry either through us or external organisations.
