The Royal Opera House Takes Centre Stage at the ‘Re-imagine an Active Future’ Conference

The Royal Opera House, known for its dedication to excellence in the performing arts, will play a prominent role at the upcoming “Re-imagine an Active Future” conference in 2024.

This unique gathering, a collaborative effort by Active Fusion, Get Doncaster Moving, Sports Directory, Yorkshire Sport Foundation, and Doncaster College, is dedicated to empowering educators and advocates for children’s physical health and well-being.

Scheduled for March 27th, this conference is tailored for educational and sporting professionals, aiming to unite headteachers, educators, governors, well-being coordinators, departmental leaders, and those deeply devoted to enhancing the physical health and well-being of children and young individuals. The event assures participants of essential resources and inspiration to make substantial contributions to shaping a more active and health-conscious future for the younger generation.

The Royal Opera House, as the home of The Royal Opera, The Royal Ballet, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, will present the Create & Dance workshop. Delivered by Dance Artists from the Royal Opera House, this inclusive approach to leading dance and storytelling aims to help pupils develop creative collaboration, physical learning, spatial awareness, and general health and well-being.

Create & Dance Programme Manager, Hayley Ryan, is “…thrilled to see the collaboration with Doncaster schools continue through this work. We hope we can build the confidence of teachers through active learning to inspire creativity in their students.”

During this engaging taster session, participants will be introduced to the “Building Blocks” pedagogy, fostering creative approaches to leading dance. They will expand their understanding on how to unlock children’s creativity through creative and inclusive dance practice and explore ROH live lessons and digital resources that support program delivery in schools.

“We are thrilled to have The Royal Opera House join us for this transformative conference…” stated Lindsy James of Active Fusion. “The Create & Dance workshop promises to be a highlight, offering educators valuable insights into fostering creativity, collaboration, and well-being through dance and storytelling.”
