The South Yorkshire Young Ambassador Programme has been created by the South Yorkshire School Games Organisers to provide young people with an opportunity to develop their skills, competencies and knowledge through having access to high quality volunteer and leadership opportunities.
The academy will consist of 50 young ambassadors across South Yorkshire. Leaders attend a training day ran by Yorkshire Sport Foundation and School Games Organisers where they will learn more about the programme.
Following the training day, leaders are required to go back to their school and complete a series of tasks as well as committing to assisting in the planning/delivery of the South Yorkshire School Games ‘For Young People By Young People’ event (Summer Festival) which is held in the summer term.
Each year a school can nominate leaders who they feel would benefit from this unique experience and represent Doncaster at the summer event.
The School Games can help your school set up and run a Committee Crew which is made up of a select number of students who all help contribute to the running of sport at your school. The aim of the Crew is to be the student voice for your school when key decisions are made around sport and physical activity at your school.
The Committee Crews can have roles such as:
Each role would have a responsibility to help with the running of physical activity and sport at schools.
