School Games

The School Games, which is funded by Sport England National Lottery funding and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, is a government led programme designed to deliver competitive school sport to all young people.

It can play an important part in helping children and young people to recover from the impact of COVID-19.

The School Games consists of four unique types of competition:

  • Intra-School Competition
  • Local Inter-School Competition
  • County Final
  • School Games National Finals

What is the mission?

Keeping competitive sport at the heart of schools and providing more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best. In addition to competition your School Games Organisers roles include:

Helping schools achieve 60 active minutes

Promoting health schools and national initiatives to support pupils to be physically active

Developing leadership academies at both primary and secondary Schools

Helping schools evaluate their school’s activity levels, encourage schools to be inclusive in their PE offer for pupils and support schools to achieve their nationally recognised School Games Mark.

As a Schools Games provider, we run competitions for schools all across Doncaster.

The School Games comprises of both Intra and Inter-school competitions leading to County Finals as well as a biennial National Finals event.
