Transition Support

We aim to help createa clear focus on secondary schools and transition points. As part of the School Games we aim to support pupils with more than opportunities to try a sport or activity. We want to support your pupil’s transision journey by using sport as a tool to aid their transition process.

Year 6/7 Transition

We work with secondary schools in different ways to support primary pupils transitioning:

• Where possible we use secondary school venues to host competitions

  • Where possible we use secondary school venues to host competitions
  • Run specific cluster transision events for local primary schools organised with the secondary school
  • Run team building events focusing on overcoming fears of transitioning (primary or secondary venue)
  • Secondary school leaders supporting events (familiar faces)
  • Skill develop and intervention programmes
  • SEND specific events
Year 2/3 Transition

We currently run specific KS1 events to engage pupils in the School Games programme. These events are often pupils first opportunity to represent their school at an event and to engage in sport outside of the school environment.

Quad kids: The aim of this event is to engage pupils in four competition events and four game related activities. The competition helps with skill development whilst engaging the pupils in the structure of a competition.

KS1 All Stars Cricket: Festival style event given pupils the opportunity to develop their sending, receiving, target skills and knowledge of cricket through a fun and engaging festival. Focuses on developing their physical literacy skills and confidence ready taking part in Develop and Play events in year 3.
