Olivia’s Story: Finding Joy in New Places

Olivia, aged 6, attended Longtoft Fusion Camp during the May school holidays, for the first time. Olivia discovered camps as her friends had visited previously and loved every second and she was eager to have the same experience, excited to make new friends and discover new sports.

Olivia’s Camp Journey

Olivia loves to keep active, playing on her trampoline, learning new gymnastic tricks and in her spare time playing games on her iPad. Camps allow Olivia to embrace her energetic nature and take part in a variety of different activities, keeping her fit and active. Olivia began the camp journey as a quiet individual and one of the youngest members of the group and ended her camp experience as an outgoing member, always laughing with a big smile on her face. Olivia was eager to make new friends and became a fantastic asset to her team.

Spotlight Moments

Olivia’s favourite part of Fusion Camp was the wide variety of sports available, which led her to discover a newfound passion for basketball. Throughout the camp, her confidence grew, as she made remarkable progress. What she enjoyed most about basketball was shooting hoops, something she had never succeeded in before attending camp. With the dedicated guidance of Coach Paisley and James, Olivia practiced diligently, and by the end of the camp, she was confidently shooting in the hoop, beaming with happiness, due to her fantastic achievements.

Camp made Olivia feel extremely happy, Olivia shared “The first day at camp cheered me up and as every day went by I felt more happy and by the end of camp, I was full of happiness and excited to share my camp stories with my friends.” Camp has become Olivia’s favourite place to visit and she cannot wait to make a return in the future. Olivia stated, “It’s my first time visiting camp and it’s my new favourite place to go to, I cannot wait to come back in the future.” Seeing children like Olivia thrive at our Camps is truly amazing.

Positive Inclusive Environment

One of the aspects that made camps so great for Olivia were the coaches. Olivia shared “The coaches taught us things that we had never had the chance to learn before, discovering new sports and learning valuable skills.” We make it a priority at camps to allow children to learn valuable skills that they can can implement outside of school and camp, to encourage children to keep physically active and fit. Olivia shared “The coaches are really happy and fun, which made me feel full of happiness.” At Fusion Camps we create an environment, where every child is surrounded by positivity, allowing every child to be the best that they can be.
