The National Lottery Funds Transformational Sports Project in Edlington
Active Fusion is delighted to announce it has received vital support from The National Lottery Community Fund to launch a new project dedicated to empowering young people in Edlington through sport.
The project, ‘Empowering Edlington’s Young People Through Sport’, will provide diversionary sports activities and leadership development opportunities, aiming to improve the physical health, mental well-being, and employability prospects of young people in the area.
Thanks to the National Lottery, this funding will allow Active Fusion to engage with young people at risk of social exclusion and help them build confidence, develop life skills, and explore new positive pathways.
“We are incredibly grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for making this project possible,” said Josh Bateman, Community Sport & Health Officer at Active Fusion. “Their support means we can create safe, inclusive spaces for young people in Edlington to grow through sport, build leadership skills, and take steps toward brighter futures.”
Through a combination of regular sports sessions, mentorship, and skills-building workshops, the project seeks to provide young people with a sense of purpose and belonging, reducing isolation and the potential for antisocial behaviour.
This initiative reflects Active Fusion’s commitment to using the power of sport to change lives and strengthen communities, one young person at a time.
