Yoginis Yoga

Here at Active Fusion we share a vision, a vision that yoga and mindfulness for health, mental and emotional wellbeing is available to all children regardless of who they are or where they are from.

Specialist coaches at Active Fusion have been trained by our partner Yoginis Yoga to deliver the tried tested yoga and mindfulness programme, based on the four key principles to be K*I*N*D – Keep it simple, Individuality is important, Nurture and Develop.

Yoginis scheme of work combine the ancient art of yoga and mindfulness with the latest research in neuroscience and bio-mechanics to offer techniques which contribute to reducing the physical and mental health challenges increasingly faced by children today.

Why children love Yoga

Kind hearts, kind words, kind thoughts.

We aim to make yoga available to all children regardless of ability or socio-economic background.

We do this through provision in schools where yoga practice can be implemented through extended school services or at the very heart of physical activity within curriculum time.

Sessions are between 30-45 minutes to maximise learning potential and can be adapted to suit different groups of children from early years to Key Stage 3 plus.

Aspects of the session can be woven into the daily routine to calm, focus and concentrate, ready for learning or play and to use for specific areas of development.

Yoga is really benefiting our children on self-regulation. The children are now completing most of the positions and really enjoy taking part.

What makes Yoginis unique is the link between the ancient art of yoga and the modern discoveries in neuroscience, biomechanics and children’s mental health that support child development and wellbeing, to create an educational programme to give life skills as critical as skills in reading and writing.

Schemes of work follow a traditional yoga format including warm up, postures and relaxation, to provide the routine and structure which supports learning and development. Postures and techniques are based on adult practices, specially adapted to be safe for children and to enhance and support child development, the growing body, lungs, brain and emotional intelligence. Repetition helps children to learn to recognise images and associated actions, giving them the confidence to take the lead and their learning home.
